More About Andrew

Mr. Nichols co-founded Horman Nichols in 2016. His practice consists primarily of litigating and defending general negligence cases, workers' compensation cases, premises liability cases, and contracts cases.

Prior to joining Horman Nichols, Mr. Nichols was a partner at one of Baltimore’s oldest and most respected insurance defense firms. Prior to that, he was an associate with a litigation firm in Rockville, Maryland, where he was an associate in the firm's commercial litigation department. Mr. Nichols also worked in-house as staff counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where his practice consisted of litigating general negligence cases and workers' compensation matters. Immediately upon graduating law school, Mr. Nichols clerked for the Honorable William O. Carr, Circuit Court for Harford County.

Mr. Nichols has been repeatedly recognized by his peers for his legal ability and professionalism.  He has been recognized as a Rising Star in Maryland Super Lawyer magazine in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and as a Super Lawyer in 2021, 2022, and 2023.  Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a rigorous, multi-phase process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third-party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis. Approximately two-and-a-half percent (2.5%) of nominees are selected as Rising Stars and approximately five percent (5%) of nominees are selected as Super Lawyers.

Mr. Nichols is rated AV Preeminent with Martindale-Hubbell.  An AV Preeminent rating is a testament to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.  Ratings are based on an average of the scores provided by peer reviewers, from 1.0 to 5.0.   An AV Preeminent rating is reserved for those attorneys receiving a score of 4.5 to 5.0.

Mr. Nichols served for over four years as a commissioned officer with the Maryland Military Department and served with the Maryland Defense Force's Judge Advocate Corp. prior to receiving an honorable discharge.  During that time he provided professional support to the Maryland Army National Guard, Maryland Air National Guard and the Maryland Emergency Management Agency.
