More About Andrew
Mr. Nichols co-founded Horman Nichols in 2016. His practice consists primarily of litigating and defending personal injury cases, including car crashes, dog bites and slip and fall cases, workers’ compensation cases, contract disputes, and Social Security Disability matters, representing individuals seeking disability benefits at both the administrative and appellate levels.
Prior to joining Horman Nichols, Mr. Nichols was a partner at one of Baltimore’s oldest and most respected insurance defense firms. Before that, Mr. Nichols practiced as an associate with a litigation firm in Rockville, Maryland in the firm’s commercial litigation department. Mr. Nichols also worked in-house as staff counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where the practice focused on litigating general negligence cases and workers’ compensation matters. Immediately upon graduating law school, Mr. Nichols clerked for the Honorable William O. Carr of the Circuit Court for Harford County.
Mr. Nichols has been repeatedly recognized by peers for legal ability and professionalism. Mr. Nichols was recognized as a Rising Star in Maryland Super Lawyers magazine in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, and as a Super Lawyer in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Super Lawyers selects attorneys through a rigorous, multi‑phase process combining peer nominations, evaluations, and independent research. Each candidate is evaluated on twelve indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made annually on a state‑by‑state basis, with approximately 2.5% of nominees selected as Rising Stars and approximately 5% selected as Super Lawyers.
Mr. Nichols is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale‑Hubbell. An AV Preeminent rating reflects peer recognition at the highest level of professional excellence and is reserved for attorneys receiving a score between 4.5 and 5.0 based on confidential peer reviews.
Mr. Nichols served for more than four years as a commissioned officer with the Maryland Military Department and served with the Maryland Defense Force Judge Advocate Corps prior to receiving an honorable discharge.
